Amphawa Floating Market

Set along the quaint canals of the Mae Klong River, the market is famous for its vibrant atmosphere, traditional wooden shop houses, and longtail boats selling freshly grilled seafood, Thai desserts, and local snacks. Visitors can stroll along the canal banks, shop for handmade crafts and souvenirs, or enjoy a boat tour that passes riverside temples and local homes. As evening falls, the market lights up with a nostalgic glow, and many visitors stay for the magical experience of watching fireflies twinkle among the mangrove trees. Unlike some of the more commercialized floating markets near Bangkok, Amphawa retains a distinctly local charm, offering an authentic glimpse into Thai riverside culture and daily life.

Chai Pattananurak Project
This is a royal initiative located near Amphawa Floating Market that showcases sustainable Thai rural life through a blend of agriculture, culture, and community learning. Key highlights include a coconut farm where visitors can watch traditional palm sugar-making demonstrations, an agricultural garden with local crops, and the Nakahavarang Cultural Plaza, which hosts performances of traditional Thai music and dance by local students. Visitors can also enjoy craft displays, local food demonstrations, and explore community-run shops that promote local products and heritage.

Talad Roi Fai

Also known as the Maeklong Railway Market, this one of Thailand’s most unique and thrilling local markets. Set directly on an active railway track, the market is famous for its dramatic scene where vendors quickly pull back their umbrellas and goods as a train passes just inches away, then resume business as usual moments later. Beyond the spectacle, the market offers an authentic local experience with stalls selling fresh seafood, fruits, Thai snacks, and the region’s famous mackerel.

Traditional Salt Farm
Tucked among salt fields and mangrove-lined roads, Coffee & Salt Baanya is a scenic café experience unlike any other. Set in a peaceful rural area, this open-air café overlooks shimmering salt flats where local salt farmers still harvest by hand. Enjoy locally roasted coffee or herbal drinks while taking in the quiet beauty of the landscape, a perfect spot for photos, and reconnect with nature.

Chai Nakra Devasthan

The centerpiece of this shrine is a jade Sivalingam, carved from tri‑colored jade and studded with gemstones considered the shrine’s spiritual highlight, believed to offer blessings for protection, success, and good fortune. Action and ritual are an integral part of the experience: visitors can make offerings, strike a ceremonial bell three times at the entrance, and then pray beside the central Shiva lingam, seated according to the Chinese zodiac signs painted on the ceiling. Scattered throughout the gardens and grounds are statues and images of other Hindu deities, including Ganesha, Vishnu, and Goddess Uma, embedded within artistic wall paintings and open-air shrines that evoke traditional Indian temple aesthetics. These visual and sculptural elements blends religious symbolism with contemplative beauty, offering visitors insight into local devotion and elements of Hindu iconography set within a lush Thai riverside environment.
