Royal Barges National Museum
Hidden along a canal near the Chao Phraya River, the Royal Barges Museum showcases Thailand’s magnificent ceremonial boats used during royal processions. These ornately carved and gilded vessels are true works of art, each with mythological figureheads and symbolic meaning. The most impressive barge, the Suphannahong, is reserved for the king and stretches over 40 meters long. A visit offers insight into Thailand’s royal traditions and naval craftsmanship. Several of the royal barges incorporate Hindu mythology in their names, figureheads, and decorative motifs, featuring deities such as Vishnu (Narai), Brahma (through the Hamsa), and serpent deities like the Nagas. These are often represented through creatures like Garuda, Hamsa, and Naga - all central figures in Hindu cosmology.

Wat Arun Temple of Dawn
One of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks, Wat Arun stands majestically on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. Its central prang (Khmer-style tower) rises over 70 meters high and is beautifully decorated with pieces of porcelain and seashells, shimmering in the sunlight. Although it’s called the Temple of Dawn, it’s particularly stunning at sunset or when lit up at night. Visitors can climb partway up for a fantastic river view.

Wat Paknam Phasicharoen Giant Golden Buddha
Located in a quiet neighborhood west of the river, Wat Paknam is now famous for its massive golden seated Buddha, one of the tallest in Bangkok. Standing at 69 meters high, the statue can be seen from miles away and is quickly becoming a modern symbol of faith. Inside the temple complex, visitors will also find a striking glass stupa and peaceful meditation halls, blending traditional reverence with contemporary grandeur.

Sriyantra Museum Thewalai

The name "Sriyantra" refers to the mystical geometric diagram associated with divine energy and balance, reflecting the museum's focus on spiritual harmony and metaphysical teachings. A vibrant and unique spiritual attraction, the highlights here are the inhouse designs and idols on display. Some of these handmade items are available for sale as well.
