Wat Sam Phran

This striking and unconventional Buddhist temple known for its towering pink cylindrical building encircled by a massive dragon sculpture. The 17-story structure symbolizes the path to enlightenment, with the dragon representing protection and spiritual strength. Visitors can walk inside the dragon’s body via a winding staircase that leads to the top, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area. Another unique feature of the temple grounds is a large turtle-shaped shrine, symbolizing longevity and stability in Buddhist and Thai mythology. The temple complex also includes statues of various animals, deities, and mythical creatures, that have symbolic spiritual meaning.

Wat Phra Pathom Chedi
At the heart of Nakhon Pathom stands the Phra Pathom Chedi, the tallest stupa in Thailand and one of the most significant in Theravāda Buddhism. At 120 meters tall, it marks the spot where Buddhism first took root in Thailand over 2,000 years ago. The stupa is surrounded by arched walkways, Buddha images, and a peaceful atmosphere that draws both pilgrims and curious visitors alike. This majestic temple is also designated as a First Class Royal Temple.

Phra Pathom Chedi Museum

The Phra Pathom Chedi National Museum in Nakhon Pathom houses a rich collection of artifacts that trace the region's historical and cultural evolution. Highlights include prehistoric stone and iron tools, bracelets, and fishing implements, evidencing early human settlement. The museum also showcases significant relics from the Dvaravati period, such as stucco and clay sculptures, Dharmachakra carvings, architectural fragments, and statues reflecting early Buddhist art and mythology. Exhibits from the Rattanakosin era include scale models of the Pathom Nakhon Palace and the changing architecture of Phra Pathom Chedi. One of the most revered items is the Phra Ruang Rodjanarith Buddha image, cast under King Rama VI using ancient parts from Sukhothai and Srisatchanalai.

Mulanithi Mahathep Shrine

Dominating the entrance are three majestic statues of Lord Shiva, Goddess Uma (Parvati), and Lord Ganesha, often referred to collectively as the Trimurti, attracting devotees making merit and offering prayers. In addition to the main deities, visitors can also pay respects to other sacred figures such as Luang Pho Ong Dam, Goddess Lakshmi, Trimurti, and Mother Earth.

Town Square
Just outside the chedi grounds, Nakhon Pathom’s town square offers a casual yet charming place to walk, shop, or grab a bite. In the evening, the area comes alive with food stalls and locals enjoying the relaxed, friendly vibe. It’s the perfect place to sample authentic street food like grilled pork skewers, spicy papaya salad, and an array of Thai desserts.
